What is test & tag?
est and tag is the process of visually inspecting and electrically testing portable appliances to ensure they are safe to use. Each item that passes is fitted with a tag showing the test date and next due date. It is required under AS/NZS 3760:2022 for all businesses operating in Victoria.
How often do I need test & tag?
It depends on your environment. Construction sites require testing every 3 months, industrial and warehousing environments every 6 months, and offices, retail, hospitality and schools every 12 months. Residential rental properties are recommended every 24 months
What equipment needs to be tested?
Any portable electrical equipment — meaning equipment that can be moved while connected to power, or that is unplugged and moved regularly. This includes computers, monitors, printers, power boards, extension leads, kitchen appliances, power tools, and cleaning equipment.
What happens if equipment fails?
Failed equipment is tagged with a FAILED tag and must be taken out of service immediately. We will advise you on whether the item can be repaired or should be replaced. A full list of failed items is included in your compliance report.
Do I get a compliance report?
Yes — every job includes a full digital compliance report delivered to your inbox the same day. The report lists every item tested, its pass or fail status, the tag number, and the next due date.
How long does a test & tag job take?
Most standard office or retail jobs are completed in a single visit. The time depends on the number of items to be tested — we’ll give you an accurate estimate when you request a quote.
Can you work outside business hours?
Yes — we’re happy to schedule early mornings, evenings, or weekends to minimise disruption to your business.
